Envelope Upgrade for Greenfield Community College, Greenfield, MA (DCAMM)

Sorensen Partners was conceptual design Architect for an envelope upgrade project for the corridors at Greenfield Community College, in Greenfield, MA, working as subconsultant to Clough Harbor Associates (CHA) on a campus-wide energy upgrade project for the MA Division of Capital Asset Management & Maintenance (DCAMM). Sorensen’s design scope included study of existing conditions and drawings and interviews with facilities staff to identify locations with piping failures caused by proximity to the envelope. Sorensen’s design includes details for curtain wall upgrade to triple-pane glazing with vacuum-panel components; targeted addition of spray foam insulation to voids in soffits and attics; and addition of rigid and batt insulation to uninsulated facade areas. We provided assembly components and R-values for all existing and improved assemblies to CHA who conducted the energy analysis. The project will be moving into bid phase for Design-Build procurement during which Sorensen will review bids for conformance with the Sorensen’s conceptual design drawings and performance specifications.
