MassAudubon Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary Framework Plan – Lowell, MA

MassAudubon Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary Framework Plan – Lowell, MA

Sorensen Partners worked as Architect subconsultant to Agency Landscape + Planning on a 22-acre Framework Plan for Pawtucket Farm in Lowell, MA. The goal of the redevelopment is to transform the former Rollie’s Farm in Lowell, MA into a nature sanctuary, food forest, and agricultural area where Lowell residents and visitors from throughout the world can appreciate the importance of food security in concert with wildlife and plant species biodiversity on this last large piece of farmland in Lowell. The parcel is being jointly developed by MassAudubon, Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust, and Mill City Grows. Sorensen Partners’ contribution to the Framework Plan listening sessions was featured in the Lowell Sun on July 28, 2022.

Sorensen Partners worked alongside Agency L+P and the three-part client teams to ideate client programs and to propose and test locations for multiple new and renovated structures tentatively proposed for the parcel. We created 3D renderings, illustrated conceptual floor plans, and illustrated views of the proposed educational, trailside, and farm spaces – and conducted analysis of the existing historic structures on the property. The impressionistic renderings shown below were co-created by Sorensen Partners’ design and illustration team and Agency L+P’s design team.
