Stakeholder Engagement for MassDEP Watershed Planning

Stakeholder Engagement for MassDEP Watershed Planning

Sorensen Partners worked with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and Geosyntec Consultants to lead stakeholder meetings within Masachusetts watersheds that have received section 319 grants to pursue projects within the watersheds.

Through the stakeholder meetings, section 319 grant recipients and other stakeholders within the watershed were able to share information about topics of mutual interest, including: problem areas in the watershed; known sources of nonpoint source pollution; water quality/quantity monitoring being conducted; and public education and outreach initiatives. Through this sharing, participants are encouraged to explore future sources of grant funding; to consider new engineered “best management practices”; and to widen the circle of interest in undertaking watershed-based planning projects.
