Sorensen Partners welcomes Employment Inquiries for the following positions:
Architectural/Design Staff – 2 positions – (3-5 years cumulative full-time experience working in Architecture firms) – Architectural/Design Staff will work as drafter, designer, job captain, and project manager and will report to the Principal-in-Charge. Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, physical model-making, full engagement with IDP internship process leading to registration, and knowledge of construction detailing and code research required. These positions are Architect-track and aspire to a definition of Architect inclusive of both design and technical ability. They require entrepreneurial attitude, ability to self-manage, strong organizational skills, big-picture thinking, excellence and accuracy in verbal and written communications, and interest in advancement to leadership. Desire to work in a friendly office that shares knowledge between staff and ability to achieve deadlines within business hours without weekend and overtime work are required. Staff will be client-facing.
Senior Technical Architect – 1 position – (10-30 years cumulative full-time experience) – Senior Technical Architect will work directly with Principal-in-Charge to detail all aspects of exterior and interior construction for new construction and renovation projects. This staff member will manage detail library and will work closely with all members of the office to communicate and standardize technical details that are consistent with the firm’s design vocabulary. Senior Technical Architect will participate in certain interviews and client meetings. A great enjoyment of sharing knowledge with others in the firm and ability to achieve deadlines within business hours without weekend and overtime work are essential. This position is ideal for a talented individual who is seeking some flexibility (including part-time work) in their schedule while functioning as an essential part of a friendly and growing creative firm.
Philosophically, the firm is committed to the personal health of its members, and will not expect time commitments from its staff that are in excess of a reasonable M-F work week. Professional dress (when necessary for meetings) and some schedule flexibility required.

Within cover letter, please include a detailed description of your ability in Revit.

Please describe the intellectual or analytical disciplinary lens (beyond architecture, design, and art) that you find most important to your understanding of human civilization and culture – i.e., economics, psychology, anthropology, science, etc.

Marielle Frederick – Designer – Fall 2018
Designer Marielle Frederick contributed to the Sorensen Partners team as a participant in the Cambridge Public Library Central Square Branch renovation; WaveMax’s Metheun and Providence retail laundromat locations; and in the design of mixed-use commercial and retail space in Lawrence, MA for Pappalardo Family Realty Trust. Marielle was trained in Fine Arts at Hunter College, Interior Design at the Art Institute of Dallas, and Architecture at Boston Architectural College. In the summers, Marielle spends time volunteering on a farm in Tennessee where she has acquired an education in working land, growing organic food, planning planting and harvest cycles, and the importance of working with nature – which drives her design approach. Marielle is a talented painter, sculptor, dancer, vocalist, and writer, and contributes to our projects for creative clients through her intimate knowledge of these fields. In the spirit of our firm’s community-centered focus, Marielle is an adept learner and participant in the communities she joins. She aspires to design delicate architecture on a civic scale, and approaches each project with humility and keen attention to the community of our clients and their collective ambitions and endeavors for greater connection and impact.
Nancy H. Welsh – Project Manager, Researcher, Business Development Officer – Spring 2013
Nancy’s commitment to innovative community development inspired her to join Sorensen Partners in 2013. She brought solid quantitative and qualitative abilities to the firm, honed by five years of investment experience at the Wellesley College Investment Office. Previously, she was a Research Intern at the Observer Research Foundation, in New Delhi, India, where she published a paper on the challenges of building preservation in Shahjahanabad, Delhi’s historic Mughal city.
Nancy graduated magna cum laude from Wellesley College, where she pursued studies in English Literature and Art History, with a particular interest in the urban environment. As a student, she was active in the campus community: House President of Beebe Hall, Student Representative to the Wellesley College Board of Trustees and member of the Wellesley College Honor Code Council. Presently, she is a Young Advisor to the Boston Preservation Alliance, where she is on the Communications and Urban Forum committees.
During her five months at Sorensen Partners, Nancy contributed extensively to the success of the Lawrence Community Works Neighborhood Planning Charette and developed business tools for the firm in conjunction with the Principal-in-Charge. Her work has left a lasting impact on the future success of clients and the firm. Nancy is next pursuing job in real estate law and is now a JD/MUP Candidate at the University of Michigan.
